We've decided that Ainslie has officially spoken her first word. There were a few possible instances of first words before: "Moo," "Hi Dad!" and a few others*. But, this one is definitely the clearest we've heard. Nope, it wasn't "Mama." Not "Dada." Ainslie's first word was "ashes."
A little while back, Ainslie's cousin Bronx learned "ring around the rosies" and was happily singing the song when we got together with everyone on Sunday afternoon at the Webb's. That evening, after we went home, the three of us danced around the living room while singing with Ainslie, and this event appears to have had quite the impact on Ainslie who will sing "ashes, ashes" at unpredictable moments throughout the day now.
We haven't been able to get a video of her saying it, but we'll put something up as soon as we can.
*The closest second place finish for a possible first word would probably have to be the very distinct "Hi! hi! hi!" she says sometimes when she wants Josh to hold her.
